DENVER – Feb. 21, 2020 – Lindsay N. Aherne and Heath J. Briggs of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP provided successful pro bono legal representation to an Iraqi man who was persecuted for his sexual orientation and sought refugee status in the United States. Aherne and Briggs worked for three years in coordination with the non-profit International Refugee Assistance Project (IRAP) to help the individual escape persecution and apply for relief.
Greenberg Traurig’s work included obtaining evidence of the man’s persecution and helping him navigate a pathway to the United States through legal counsel and advocacy. The individual is now safely in the United States.
