Ronald Ennis is a member of the Litigation Practice in Greenberg Traurig's Houston office. He has litigation experience both as in-house counsel managing complex litigation and in providing professional e-discovery support through specialized legal services companies. He also has broad business development and commercial contract experience. He is a specialist in the drafting and negotiation of standardized energy trading agreements and bespoke natural gas and crude oil sales and related transportation and storage agreements



  • In the primary MDL case arising out of the Deepwater Horizon disaster, served as the Attorney Project Manager responsible for training 200+ contract attorneys in the legal nuts and bolts of offshore oil exploration in order to conduct a review of over 40 million documents. Also acted as the e-discovery team lead on 20+ additional disputes arising out governmental investigations and disputes with disaster response general contractors.°
  • Advised private equity interests and management in the leveraged buyout of FirstEnergy Corp’s Gulf of Mexico oil and gas marketing division.°
  • Developed global supply chain partnerships for General Electric Company under Six Sigma protocols, creating a standardized suite of natural gas and electric power procurement contracts adopted corporate-wide by GE. Client savings exceeded $20 million per year.°
  • Led the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company business development team responsible for the development of the commercial and legal framework for energy purchases and sales for a chemical plant expansion and a new 30 MW Cogen facility; managed from conception to completion seven alternative gas supply pipelines, constructed in Ohio, Texas, Oklahoma and Alabama, resulting in $8.5 million annual savings to Goodyear.°
  • Obtained regulatory approval of an incentive transportation tariff using traded capacity and storage, resulting in the retention of volumetric throughput representing 40% of the total pipeline system sales for a large Virginia gas distributor.°
  • During a 4-year secondment, advised a U.S. top 10 oil and gas producer during its multibillion-dollar corporate restructuring process, including regulatory compliance, asset evaluation, deal structuring, and renegotiation and extension of asset management agreements (AMAs) covering over 250,000 MMBtu/day of the company’s equity natural gas production.°
