10th Anniversary Celebration of the Pennsylvania Innocence Project

Greenberg Traurig is sponsoring the 10th Anniversary Celebration of the Pennsylvania Innocence Project , a campaign that began in 2009 and has since exonerated 16 individuals, and has brought four additional people home from prison to continue fighting their charges.  The special guest speaker will be Dr. Yusef Salaam, a published poet, public speaker, and powerful advocate for criminal justice reform. Dr. Salaam regularly speaks out against injustice by sharing his story and fighting for social change. He was one of the "Central Park Five" teens -- now known as "The Exonerated Five" -- who were wrongly accused and convicted in 1989/1990 for a highly publicized rape in New York's Central Park.  Celebrated filmmaker Ava DuVernay recently highlighted his story and that of his cohorts, in the acclaimed 2019 Netflix miniseries, "When They See Us." Regional Operating Shareholder Michael Lehr will be in attendance at this evening's event.
