What Lawyers Need to Know about Environmental, Social, and Governance Factors in Corporate Decision Making

Greenberg Traurig Shareholders Kaitlyn Maxwell and Jillian Kirn will be panelists on the Lawline webinar, "What Lawyers Need to Know about Environmental, Social, and Governance Factors in Corporate Decision Making" on Thursday, November 4th. Corporations are increasingly focused on ESG (environmental, social, and governance) factors in making business decisions and evaluating risk. In this program, Kaitlyn Maxwell, and Jillian Kirn will be joined by Gregg Anderson of Crowe and will help attorneys (both in-house and outside counsel) understand the key ESG factors that they should know when advising businesses, recent regulatory and litigation developments in this area, and what to expect from the SEC. They will also discuss best practices when integrating an ESG framework into a business's processes, and the associated ethical risks that may arise.

Agenda:
  • Review the ESG fundamentals, and define what lawyers should know, including ratings, frameworks, and finance;
  • Discuss recent regulatory developments and what to expect from the SEC;
  • Understand the importance of an effective ESG framework to avoid unanticipated risks; and
  • Analyze the litigation risks by reviewing 2021 ESG litigation trends.
