Greenberg Traurig Nabs Ex-Haynes And Boone Bankruptcy Pro

Greenberg Traurig LLP augmented its bankruptcy practice on Tuesday, adding a seasoned partner who previously worked on both restructuring and distressed asset acquisition in energy, real estate and other sectors at Haynes and Boone LLP.

Lenard M. Parkins brings three decades of experience representing companies, lenders, creditors committees and other parties in both in- and out-of-court restructuring as well as transactions to the firm's business reorganization and financial restructuring practice. Parkins joins as a partner and will practice out of both New York and Houston, according to the firm.

“The opportunity to join Greenberg Traurig's huge domestic and international platform and prominent national bankruptcy practice was one I couldn't refuse,” Parkins told Law360.

At Haynes and Boone, Parkins represented the Related Cos. LP in a dispute with real estate developer Shelbourne North Water Street LP over the stalled Chicago Spire project. Creditors led by Related hit Shelbourne with an involuntary Chapter 11 petition in Delaware bankruptcy court in October 2013, and Shelbourne agreed to transfer ownership of the site in November 2014.

He had also represented Related in its acquisition of the distressed mortgage of Manhattan condo development One Madison Park, which saw the developer end up taking over the property after a contested bankruptcy.
