Mattesich, shareholder in the Proposition 65 and Government Law & Policy practices, will speak on May 4 on a panel concerning “California: Current Issues and Perennial Favorites.” The panel will discuss how California continues to alter the personal care products industries and the challenges companies doing business in California face.

Thompson, shareholder in the Pharmaceutical, Medical Device & Health Care Litigation Practice, will also speak on May 4 concerning “Legal Update and Defensive Strategies for Consumer Class Actions and the Class Action Fairness Act.” Thompson will discuss significant court decisions and recent developments in consumer class action that attorneys in the personal care products industry need to be aware of.

According to their website, the Personal Care Products Council (formerly the Cosmetic, Toiletry, and Fragrance Association) is the leading national trade association representing the global cosmetic and personal care products industry. Founded in 1894, the Council's more than 600-member companies manufacture, distribute, and supply the vast majority of personal care products marketed in the U.S. and are global leaders committed to product safety, quality, and innovation.

Mattesich’s work encompasses advising and representing clients in a wide range of regulatory, administrative, and legislative matters. His clients include businesses and trade associations with significant interests in California. He counsels clients in the consumer products industries in regulatory compliance issues, and legislative advocacy efforts. His practice encompasses environmental subspecialties, including toxic chemical regulation, air emissions standards, pesticide regulation, compliance, and litigation regarding California's unique "Proposition 65" statute, and regulatory and compliance matters before the California Air Resources Board (CARB).

Thompson concentrates her practice on products liability litigation, with an emphasis on representing manufacturers of medical devices, pharmaceuticals and other consumer products, in litigation in state and federal courts nationwide. She handles a wide variety of complex litigation, including consumer fraud class actions and multi district litigation. She also regularly counsels manufacturers regarding such pre-litigation matters as review and drafting of appropriate warning language for product labeling and manuals, Consumer Products Safety Commission compliance, and other product recall and reporting issues. She was named one of Law360’s “Product Liability Rising Stars” for 2012.
