Greenberg Traurig Brings Former DOJ Litigator Jessica Natali into Its White Collar Defense Ranks

PHILADELPHIA  Dec. 17, 2018 – As part of the strategic expansion of its Philadelphia office, global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP has added former U.S. Department of Justice litigator Jessica Natali to its award-winning White Collar Defense & Special Investigations Practice. Prior to joining the firm, Natali served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania’s criminal division for the past 11 years with a perfect trial conviction record. She brings to the firm considerable experience in federal criminal cases including health care, mail, wire, mortgage, and tax fraud matters.

“This addition is a game-changer for our office, practice and, ultimately, our clients. This is not only because of Jessica’s wide-ranging litigation experience and deep knowledge of federal law, but also because of her longstanding and strong connections to this region,” said Curtis B. Toll, managing shareholder of the firm’s Philadelphia office. “Broadening our presence in the white collar defense space is a key component of this office’s expansion efforts.”

Natali’s decorated career with the U.S. Justice Department includes successfully prosecuting more than 100 cases. These include U.S. v. Dr. Kermit Gosnell et. al., which involved a Philadelphia-area health care provider who ran an opioid “pill mill” and performed illegal abortion procedures.

“Greenberg Traurig’s overall reputation and strategically aggressive white collar team stood out to me as I chose a new phase for my career,” Natali said. “The firm’s strong presence in the region along with a global footprint of elite practitioners will serve my clients well and, in turn, I know that my insights will add value as I collaborate with my new partners around the world.”

"We welcome Jessica to our dynamic global team whose members work closely with each other and with clients, utilizing decades of experience together with innovative strategies and robust resources to address a wide range of criminal, regulatory, and investigation matters on a global scale,” said Jacqueline Becerra, Marc L. Mukasey, and A. John Pappalardo, co-chairs of Greenberg Traurig’s White Collar Defense & Special Investigations Practice.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Natali graduated from Drexel University and Temple University’s Beasley School of Law. Her legal career includes a clerkship for the Honorable Theodore McKee of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and six years at Ballard Spahr as a white collar litigation associate.

Her legal roots sprout from her father, Louis M. Natali Jr., a well-known criminal defense attorney, who served at the Philadelphia Defender’s Association and once taught at Rutgers-Camden Law School. Since 1990, he has been a member of Temple Law’s faculty and for four decades has helped train attorneys through the National Institute of Trial Advocacy.

In addition to her stellar professional career, Jessica Natali serves the community as a volunteer with the Pennsylvania Animal Welfare Society and the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys. Her long history of pro bono and community engagement activities intersects with entities such as People’s Emergency Center, Women’s Way, Philadelphia Reads, the United Way, and others.
