Greenberg Traurig Elevates 4 Attorneys to Shareholder, 1 to Of Counsel In Atlanta

ATLANTA – Feb. 28, 2018 – The international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, has elevated John J. Dyer, Sean Jessee, and Courtney B. Noce to shareholder, and Joshua Portnoy to of counsel in the Atlanta office. Firmwide, Greenberg Traurig elevated 42 attorneys to shareholder from 21 of the firm’s offices and 14 practice areas. Female attorneys make up 50 percent of the firm’s 2018 new shareholder class.

Dyer focuses his practice on lending and financial transactions, including asset-based lending, debtor-in-possession financing, and secured and unsecured commercial loans. He has experience in representing banks and non-bank lending institutions with respect to syndicated and single-lender credit facilities. Dyer is experienced in representing lenders with respect to debtor-in-possession financing and exit financing in bankruptcy and pre-bankruptcy loan workout situations. Dyer currently services as a Board Member for the Atlanta Chapter of the Commercial Financial Association.

Jessee focuses his practice on products liability litigation, with an emphasis on pharmaceutical, medical device and health care litigation. He has experience litigating a variety of complex matters in both state and federal courts, including multidistrict litigation. Jessee is involved in the representation and defense of manufacturers in product liability cases across the country. In addition, he has been involved in the defense of hospitals, pharmacies, health care providers, and pharmacists in claims alleging professional malpractice. In 2017, he was one of five attorneys nationally named by Law360 as a “Rising Star” in the Product Liability field. Prior to joining the firm, Jessee served as a Staff Attorney for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.

Noce focuses her practice on U.S. business immigration, compliance, and enforcement actions, as well as global immigration. She represents both large multinational companies and small startups on the full range of employment-based immigration, ranging from permanent residence to nonimmigrant visa categories. Noce works closely with companies on complex challenges associated with I-9 employment verification and enforcement actions. She provides proactive strategies in the form of onsite training, internal audits and reviews, as well as deploying best practices to minimize exposure and liabilities in the event of government investigations. Prior to practicing law, Noce worked with the Georgia Department of Economic Development as a Business Development and Project Manager. Noce is fluent in Italian, proficient in French, and has basic Spanish skills.

Portnoy represents public and private companies in complex commercial litigation and business disputes. He also has substantial experience representing local governmental entities, including municipalities and educational institutions, in state and federal lawsuits involving whistleblower, Title VII, personal injury, open meetings, and open records claims. He is actively involved in all aspects of litigation, including overseeing electronic discovery and document retention, taking and defending depositions, and drafting and arguing substantive motions at both the trial and appellate levels. Portnoy has been listed as a “Rising Star” by Georgia Super Lawyers each year since 2014. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Georgia Asylum & Immigration Network.

In addition to the elevations, Greenberg Traurig reported firmwide revenue for FY2017 of $1,477,180,000, an increase of 7.28 percent over 2016. This is the fourth consecutive year of record-setting revenues for the firm. The firm’s Profit per Equity Partner increased 5.42 percent to a record $1,634,000.
