Greenberg Traurig’s Elizabeth Ross Hadley to Speak at YTexas 2019 Business Summit

AUSTIN – Sept. 19, 2019 – Elizabeth Ross Hadley, a shareholder and government relations lawyer in the Austin office of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, has been selected to be a featured panelist at the upcoming YTexas 2019 Business Summit in Dallas. The event, which is open to the public, will be held at the Ritz-Carlton in Dallas on Sept. 27 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

With extensive experience in government law and policy, Hadley will join other top business leaders and influencers from across the state to share insights about the 86th Legislative Session and the future of Texas.

During the panel, Hadley and other participants will discuss the Texas legislative process and address three bills passed in the last legislative session that have important implications for business leaders in Texas regarding tax regulations, infrastructure, and workforce development. The bills are:

  • House Bill 3 – A landmark school finance bill that will deliver more than $6.5 billion in additional spending for Texas schools.
  • Senate Bill 2 – Known as the “Property Tax Reform & Relief Act of 2019,” SB2 lowers the rollback tax rate—now called the “no-new-revenue tax rate”—from 8 percent to

3.5 percent for the most populated cities, counties, and special districts across the state.

  • House Bill 1525 – A bill requiring marketplace providers to collect applicable state and local sales, and use taxes on sales made in their marketplaces by third-party sellers.

“It is an honor to be part of an event that both educates and connects those who are making an impact in Texas,” Hadley said. “I hope to draw on my significant experience representing clients before the Legislature and state agencies to bring valuable insight regarding the legislative process and this recently passed legislation to all of our attendees.”

Hadley focuses her practice on both government law and policy and litigation matters. Her government practice includes representing clients with legislative, regulatory, and administrative issues across all policy areas, with an emphasis on insurance regulation, economic development, technology, health care, education, the Texas Public Information Act, and campaign finance compliance in Texas. She has an intimate understanding of legislative and government agency processes given her prior experience working within the U.S. Senate, the Texas State Senate, and the Texas Department of Agriculture. Hadley utilizes this knowledge to provide exceptional service to clients in their interactions with Texas government, including advocating for clients before the Texas legislature and assisting clients with the rule-making process and advising on regulatory matters before state agencies, boards and commissions.
