Former FINRA Principal Counsel of Enforcement and White House Aide Joins Greenberg Traurig’s Government Law & Policy Practice in New York

NEW YORK (March 20, 2014) – – William Mack has joined the international law firm Greenberg Traurig LLP, as of counsel in its Government Law & Policy and Financial Regulatory & Compliance practices in New York. Prior to joining Greenberg Traurig, Mack was a Principal Counsel for Enforcement at the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) in New York and before that worked as Director of the Executive Secretariat in the Office of the United States Trade Representative and as a Deputy Associate Counsel at the White House.

Mack joins one of the leading government relations offices in both the City and the State. The group has been consistently ranked among the top five lobbying practices in New York City by the City Clerk’s office and among the top five law firm lobbying practices in New York State by the Joint Commission on Public Ethics, and its predecessors.  Mack’s experience complements the group’s capabilities. He will focus his practice on government affairs, government contracts, administrative law, government investigations, legislative, lobbying, trade and regulatory and compliance matters.

Prior to working at FINRA, Mack was Director of the Executive Secretariat in the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative. There, he advised Ambassador Ron Kirk on trade agreement negotiations and World Trade Organization (WTO) litigation decisions, prepared him for Congressional testimony, and meetings with heads of state and industry organizations.  Mack also served as a Deputy Associate Counsel at the White House providing counsel to senior White House staff on appointments and Congressional inquiries. 

Mack is also experienced counseling companies on regulatory and compliance matters relating to Securities and Exchange Commission regulations, the Exchange Act, Anti-Money Laundering laws and FINRA rules.

Mack holds a J.D. from Columbia Law School where he was the writing and research editor for the Columbia Journal of Law and Social Problems, and he holds a B.A. from University at Albany, SUNY.
