Greenberg Traurig Shareholder Lisa C. McCurdy to Speak at Animal Law Conference

LOS ANGELES – Oct.  5, 2015 – Lisa C. McCurdy, Litigation Practice shareholder in the Los Angeles office of international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, will be speaking at the ”Animal Law for All Practitioners” conference this Monday, Oct. 12, 2015. The event is organized by The Rutter Group and Thomson Reuters, and will be held in Los Angeles at the L.A. Hotel Downtown from 6 p.m. until 9:15 p.m. The conference will focus on the recent increase of legal disputes surrounding animal-related legislation and litigation across practice areas.

McCurdy, co-author of The Rutter Group’s forthcoming Animal Law Practice Guide, will speak along with her co-authors on several animal-related issues that are becoming increasingly prevalent. Some of the topics discussed will include: differences between “service animals” and “emotional support animals,” civil liability and criminal liability for animal-related injuries to humans, and animal custody issues.

In addition to her vast experience with animal protection law, McCurdy also handles complex business litigation, trust & estates litigation, real estate and financing litigation, and consumer protection claims. She is president of the Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest board of directors and is a former president/commissioner of the Board of Los Angeles Animal Services Commissioners. McCurdy’s work in the realm of animal protection law has involved litigation cases on behalf of animal protection groups and individuals.
