Greenberg Traurig Serves as Lead Counsel in Bio Pappel’s U.S. $409 Million-Equivalent Secured, Syndicated Dual-Currency Credit Facility

MIAMI – Dec. 5, 2016 – The global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP represented Bio Pappel, S.A.B. de C.V. (BP), the leading paper producer in Mexico, as lead counsel in the consummation of a U.S. $409 million-equivalent secured, syndicated dual-currency credit facility.

The proceeds of the facility will be used to repay existing indebtedness and to redeem the outstanding bonds of BP’s subsidiary, Bio Pappel Scribe S.A. de C.V. Credit Suisse acted as Administrative Agent of the facility.

The Greenberg Traurig team was led by Emilio J. Alvarez-Farré, a shareholder in the Latin American and Iberian Practice and the Miami Corporate and Securities Practice. Alvarez-Farré was assisted by Juan Delgado, an associate in the firm’s Latin American and Iberian Practice Group and the Miami Corporate and Securities Practice. Additional team members from the firm’s Corporate and Securities Practice in the Mexico City office included Shareholder Carlos R. Garduño and Associate Luis Cortes.

Alvarez-Farré concentrates his practice on cross-border mergers and acquisitions and financing transactions. Over the course of more than two decades, he has represented companies in multibillion dollar transactions throughout Latin America.
