BOCA RATON AND FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – March 31, 2016 – The Boca Raton office of international law firm Greenberg Traurig, P.A. will participate in the April 2 JDRF One Walk, formerly Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, at Mizner Park in Boca Raton. In addition to sponsoring the walk, a Greenberg Traurig team of attorneys and employees in Boca Raton is raising money and awareness for Type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. Greenberg Traurig is also a sponsor of the April 16 JDRF One Walk at Nova Southeastern University in Davie.
Rebecca G. DiStefano, a shareholder in the Boca Raton Corporate & Securities Practice, serves as captain of the firm’s Boca Raton team as well as JDRF Chief Event Champion again this year. DiStefano was appointed to the Board of Directors of JDRF of Greater Palm Beach County in 2013. The JDRF One Walk brings together more than 2,000 attendees in Boca Raton alone to support the fight against diabetes.
“I am encouraged by the support from Greenberg Traurig, my colleagues, and friends in fundraising for JDRF research initiatives,” said DiStefano, whose 11-year-old son was diagnosed with T1D in 2011. “The support of our Greenberg Traurig team and all the other wonderful teams helps raise the funds necessary to develop the treatments that we believe, will ultimately, result in a biological cure for T1D.”
