WEST PALM BEACH, FL – Sept. 18, 2017 – Tracy L. Gerber, Co-Managing Shareholder of global law firm Greenberg Traurig's West Palm Beach office, has been appointed Co-Chair of the firm’s Broker-Dealer Securities Litigation Practice. In her new role she joins Shareholders Bradford D. Kaufman and William D. Briendel, who are also Co-Chairs of the practice.
Greenberg Traurig's Securities Litigation Practice is one of the largest in the United States. Members of the group routinely defend the largest broker-dealers on Wall Street in high stakes customer and industry arbitrations, and have served as lead defense counsel in some of the most complex and highly publicized regulatory actions and securities fraud cases in recent times.
“It is an honor to co-chair a group of such distinguished legal talent,” said Gerber, who is also a member of the firm’s Labor & Employment Practice. “I am looking forward to further advancing the practice and fulfilling the many opportunities we have to serve our financial services clients.”
With offices across the United States and internationally, the team assists clients in virtually every major commercial and banking center and its securities litigators work closely with attorneys in related practice disciplines throughout the firm, such as Corporate & Securities, White Collar Defense & Special Investigations, Labor & Employment, and Corporate Governance & Compliance, to provide clients with a strategic portfolio of counseling and defense services.
“We are thrilled to appoint Tracy Co-Chair of our Broker-Dealer Securities Litigation Practice,” Kaufman said. “She brings unique skills, an emphasis on client service and strong record of leadership and involvement that have made a positive impact in our practice. We look forward to her future contributions to our group.”
Gerber represents major broker-dealers in Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and JAMS arbitrations, regulatory proceedings, and state and federal courts. As lead counsel in the defense of financial services firms, she has litigated numerous sales practice and employment cases involving millions of dollars in controversy. Her broker-dealer employment experience is wide ranging and includes the defense of claims that implicate unique reputational risk, such as claims brought by current employees, gender discrimination and hostile work environment claims, SOX and Dodd-Frank whistleblower claims, and claims arising out of product controversies. Gerber regularly uses her cross-over experience to assist clients in identifying and mitigating collateral regulatory and customer litigation risks that are often presented in employment disputes involving financial services firms.
