Greenberg Traurig Shareholders to Participate on Panels at SIFMA 2018 C&L Seminar

MIAMI – March  12, 2018 – Greenberg Traurig, P.A.Shareholders Tracy L. Gerberand Barry Richard will speak at the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association’s (SIFMA)  2018 C&L Annual Seminar to be held in March 18-21 in Orlando, Florida. The global law firm also is sponsor of the event.

 

SIFMA’s C&L Annual Seminar is the premier event for compliance and legal professionals working in the financial services industry. Celebrating its 50th anniversary, the 2018 Annual Seminar provides a unique opportunity for industry leaders and regulators to gather for three-days of information sharing, collaboration and networking.


Gerber will be a member of the March 21 panel on “Negotiating Skills: Learn from the Experts.”

 

“Being able to identify barriers to successful negotiations and how to overcome them is an essential skill for any litigator,” said Gerber, who is Co-Managing Shareholder of the West Palm Beach office and Co-Chair of the firm’s Broker Dealer Securities Litigation Practice. She is also a member of the firm’s Labor & Employment Practice. “At the SIFMA session, I plan to share successful strategies to overcome obstacles to resolution, and I will also touch on ethical considerations for lawyers during the negotiation process.”

 

Gerber regularly defends major Wall Street brokerage firms, registered investment advisers and other financial institutions in a wide variety of employment disputes in arbitration, before administrative agencies, and in state and federal courts nationwide. She has substantial cross-over experience in the regulatory and sales practice arena, having handled numerous Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and state regulatory inquiries, investigations and enforcement proceedings, as well as customer arbitrations.

 

Richard will be a member of the March 20 panel on “The Supreme Court and the Financial Services Industry”.

 

Richard, who has successfully argued four cases before the Supreme Court, will discuss strategic considerations in petitioning for certiorari and briefing in the high Court. Richard has been nationally recognized by the highest lawyer rating organizations and publications for his trial and appellate work. In 2000, he represented George W. Bush in the Florida litigation that determined the presidency. In that capacity, he effectively managed 47 cases throughout the state, personally arguing many of them. “The panel also hopes to provide insight into the issues the court may be considering now and in the future.”

 

Richard concentrates his practice in the fields of complex commercial litigation, constitutional law, and appellate law. He has successfully argued four cases before the United States Supreme Court and hundreds of cases before federal and state trial and appellate courts throughout the United States.
