MIAMI – May 29, 2019 – Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP’s Intellectual Property & Technology Practice has increased its focus on the southeast region by expanding the practice to meet the demands of clients and technology companies in the region.
Alan N. Sutin, Greenberg Traurig’s senior chair of the Global Intellectual Property & Technology Practice and chair of the Technology & Media Telecommunications Practice, has relocated to the Miami office after 25 years in the firm’s New York office. His move complements other recent additions in the region that include Shareholder Scott W. Doyle and Associate Vishesh Narayen, who recently joined the Tampa office, and Shareholder Robert A. King, who is based in the firm’s Atlanta office.
Greenberg Traurig has more than 200 intellectual property attorneys and professionals. The practice has been named a “National Tier 1” law firm for IP Litigation, Patent Law, Trademark, and Information Technology Law by U.S. News and Best Lawyers, 2018 “Best Law Firms Rankings.”

Herbert, and Associate Corinne Miller LaGosh; and Tallahassee office Shareholder Lorence Jon Bielby and Associate Michael H. Moody.

Sutin’s move to Miami marks a homecoming because he began his legal career in South Florida 36 years ago before becoming one of the first two IP lawyers at Greenberg Traurig in 1994. An experienced business lawyer, Sutin focuses on commercial transactions involving intellectual property and technology issues, as well as privacy, and cybersecurity matters. He advises clients in connection with transactions involving the development, acquisition, disposition, and commercial exploitation of intellectual property, with an emphasis on technology-related products and services, and counsels companies on a wide range of issues relating to privacy and cybersecurity. Sutin has completed large scale IP driven deals for top entertainers including Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, and Katy Perry. He also has done a wide range of work for fashion and luxury brands such as Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, and Godiva. Notably, Sutin was the senior member of the Greenberg Traurig team that represented Hard Rock International in negotiations with the Miami Dolphins in the naming rights deal for the Hard Rock Stadium.
Doyle is chair of the firm’s International Trade Commission (ITC) Section 337 Litigation Practice. He focuses on patent and intellectual property infringement actions in federal district and state courts. Doyle is experienced in Section 337 actions at the International Trade Commission. He is a trained electrical engineer and registered patent attorney. Doyle is well known as a leading lawyer litigating complex intellectual property cases, handling IP and other aspects in corporate transactions, efficiently managing and developing patent portfolios to achieve strategic goals, and providing global technology, business, and legal strategic counseling. He also has broad experience in arbitrations and mediations involving patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property issues. Doyle handles litigation involving telecommunications, internet, digital cameras, computer hardware and software, automotive, photolithography machines, chemical compositions, medical devices, semiconductors, and biotechnology.
King focuses his intellectual property law practice on patent portfolio management, patent prosecution, and intellectual property licensing. He counsels clients in patent prosecution, avoidance of the patent rights of others, patent litigation, and brand protection. King has a background as an electrical engineer, as well as wide-ranging experience with a variety of technologies, including computer hardware and software, blockchain technology, fintech systems, mechanical devices, and medical devices. He also represents clients in patent litigation involving software, electronics, semiconductor, and medical device technology.
Narayen’s practice focuses on complex intellectual property litigation, with an emphasis on high-stakes patent infringement litigation, trade secret matters, and litigation involving cutting-edge technology, as well as data privacy and cybersecurity litigation. He has represented clients in complex patent infringement litigation involving a variety of technologies and industries in forums across the United States, including in federal district court, post-grant proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and Section 336 investigations before the International Trade Commission. Narayen is a trained computer engineer with experience in a diverse array of technologies, from software, microprocessors, and semiconductor manufacturing, to orthopedic implants, medical devices, telematics, 4G LTE wireless communication, and vaccines.
