Lei Huang, as a Chinese Qualified Lawyer based in London, is integrated into the operations of Greenberg Traurig’s Amsterdam office. Lei has spent many years helping to build, and will continue to assist in growing, the firm’s China practice. Lei works to expand and strengthen the European presence of GT’s China practice and coordinate the multijurisdictional activities of the firm’s Chinese clients between various offices and strategic partners across Europe (Netherlands, UK, Poland, Germany and Italy).
Lei’s practice focuses on issues of inward and outward investments with respect to China; international trade and distribution; cross-border mergers and acquisitions, including due diligence, multijurisdictional joint ventures, tax-oriented corporate restructuring, and international financings; and general corporate law and business matters. She also advises on European competition law and EU regulatory issues, including EU market entry strategies for various regulated products.
Lei serves a wide range of corporate clients offering goods and services to businesses and consumers. As such, she and her clients actively explore business opportunities throughout Europe, the United States, Latin America, the Middle East and Asia. She has assisted multi-national companies, large state-owned companies and fast-growing private companies in a broad range of industries, including electronics, IT, energy, chemical, machinery, pharmaceutical and healthcare, fashion and entertainment.
Lei's background as a Chinese qualified lawyer with professional experience in Europe makes her well positioned to liaise with GT’s diverse clients. It also enables her to seamlessly facilitate the firm’s service-oriented legal assistance to Chinese clients who are active in Chinese outbound investments. She efficiently manages client relationships and helps clients to understand unfamiliar foreign legal environments and processes. Lei often works in close cooperation with the firm’s Shanghai office regarding China inbound investments.
Additionally, Lei has wide-ranging experience in the field of international commercial dispute resolution. She has represented clients in arbitrations in the areas of technology transfer, joint venture and international trade disputes before various arbitration tribunals, including the Beijing Arbitration Commission, China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Committee (CIETAC), International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce, and the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce.
Prior to joining the firm, Lei worked with the appeals chamber of a United Nations’ international court, a leading Chinese law firm and CIETAC, as well as local district courts in China.
