Courageous Conversations: Taking Action on Criminal Justice Reform

CLICK HERE to view the Webinar Recording

Greenberg Traurig's Social Justice Action Academy hosted a Courageous Conversation regarding criminal justice reform and tangible actions anyone can take to create lasting impact, regardless of their background. This program touched on criminal justice as it relates to wrongful convictions and rehabilitation of the incarcerated, as well as the role legal pro bono work can play.

This discussion was a follow-up to Greenberg Traurig’s earlier program in which Karen Kennard courageously shared the personal story of her family’s experience with the criminal justice system when her oldest brother, Tim Cole was wrongly convicted of a crime. Tim became the first person in Texas to receive a posthumous exoneration and posthumous pardon. The Texas exoneration compensation system and the Texas Innocence Commission are named in his honor.

Speakers Included:
Karen M. Kennard,
Shareholder, Government Law & Policy, Greenberg Traurig - Austin
Caroline J. Heller, Shareholder and Global Pro Bono Program Chair, Litigation, Greenberg Traurig - New York
Bobby Harris, President/CEO, Unincarcerated Minds Inc.
Nikki Lewis Simon, Shareholder and Chief Diversity Officer, Greenberg Traurig - Miami
