Unwinding the PHE, its Impact, and Mitigation Strategies, Medicaid Health Plan Association

Nancy E. Taylor, of Greenberg Traurig, who served 10 years as Health Policy Director for a Senate Committee and worked on a number of significant health and FDA laws, and Linda Roman, Senior VP, Centauri Health Solutions, presented at a Medical Health Plan Association fireside chat on effective mitigation strategies to help your organization and your members navigate the challenges they will face once the COVID-19 PHE comes to an end.

Medicaid and CHIP program enrollment grew by over 20% since February 2020 and was recorded at over 87 million as of March 2022. An estimated 16 million beneficiaries are at risk of losing coverage when continuous enrollment ends. This webinar examined the challenges and mitigation strategies to minimize the impact as much as possible.

Learning objectives included:

  • Educating healthcare leaders on the challenges states, beneficiaries, providers, Medicare, and Medicaid Managed Care payers will face when Medicaid continuous eligibility ends.
  • Discussing mitigation strategies CMS has proposed for states to consider implementing.
  • Identifying the many communication and intervention strategies that Managed Care Organizations are working on to be ready to implement when the notice of final renewal of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency is given.
  • Discussing strategies for providing options to members who are no longer eligible for Medicaid.
