Greenberg Traurig Represents Alior Bank in its Acquisition of Meritum Bank ICB S.A.

WARSAW (Oct. 21, 2014) – The international law firm Greenberg Traurig advised Alior Bank on the acquisition of Meritum Banku S.A. The purchase agreement was signed Oct. 20, 2014. The value of the transaction is PLN 352.5 million.

The transaction was handled by a team from the Warsaw Office of Greenberg Traurig, including local partner Radosław Gronet (supervising the transaction); shareholder Łukasz Pawlak (supervising the banking and regulatory aspects of the deal); associates Karolina Kubik, Agata Jakubczak, Maciej Kacymirow, Mateusz Zaleński and Tomasz Denko. Senior shareholder Lejb Fogelman led the team.

Greenberg Traurig handled the acquisition and advised on all its aspects as well as on any issues related to the financing through an issuance of new shares. The transaction will be finally completed upon obtaining the relevant regulatory consents and approvals.

In the last year Greenberg Traurig has served as legal adviser in the most important transactions in the banking sector in Poland. The firm represented PKO BP in the acquisition of Nordea Polska and BNP Paribas in the acquisition of Bank Gospodarki Żywnościowej.
