MIAMI (Dec. 30, 2014) – Iris Escarra, Shareholder and Co-Chair of the Miami Land Development & Zoning Practice of international law firm Greenberg Traurig, P.A., received the 2014 “Networking Deal of the Year” award at the annual CREW-Miami awards luncheon held on Dec. 17 at the Four Seasons hotel in Miami.
Escarra was honored with the Networking Deal of the Year award for a transaction valued at more than $2 million in recognition of her work with Monica Cunill-Fals of Avila Rodriguez Hernandez Mena Ferri LLP. Escarra represented the Seller, Espacio Miami Properties, LLC, in connection with land use related matters. Cunill-Fals negotiated the purchase and sale to the Buyer, an entity affiliated with the Related Companies.
Escarra obtained a Major Use Special Permit (MUSP) from the City of Miami and an exception to the MUSP for the Seller, which all helped to ensure a smooth and successful sale of the Property. Following the closing on Oct. 7, Escarra continued to represent Related Companies in land use matters regarding the Property.
“I am honored to be recognized for the work I did for our clients in bringing this deal to a successful closing,” Escarra said. “I am proud to be a part of the CREW-Miami network of powerful professional women in commercial real estate.”
CREW-Miami was founded in 1987 as a professional support network for women involved in different aspects of the commercial real estate industry. Today, the organization is comprised of over 190 professionals representing all fields of commercial real estate.
At Greenberg Traurig, Escarra represents landowners and developers in every phase of property development and operations. Her work covers a wide-range of industry sectors including residential, hotel, retail, commercial and mixed-uses, and institutional uses such as affordable housing, educational facilities, medical buildings, places of worship and museums. She is a former Assistant City Attorney for the city of Miami.
