Rebekah S. Guyon is a privacy and intellectual property attorney whose practice focuses on copyright, trademark, right of publicity, First Amendment, data privacy, security, behavioral advertising, Internet-related, commercial contract, and business disputes and class action defense. Rebekah is an experienced litigator before both state and federal courts and domestic and international arbitration panels. Rebekah regularly advises clients in the e-commerce and Internet space on novel areas of intellectual property, data privacy, and California law. Rebekah is fluent in cutting edge communications platforms and all aspects of eDiscovery.

Prior to joining the firm, Rebekah was a law clerk for the Honorable James O. Browning in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Mexico.

Before practicing law, Rebekah taught high school U.S. History and New Mexico History in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

  • Obtained order compelling arbitration of domain name ownership dispute on behalf of domain name registrar based on arbitration provision in subsidiary’s terms of use.
  • Defended foreign mobile device manufacturer from privacy claims in class-action lawsuit based on third-party software’s alleged access of communications on consumer mobile devices.
  • Advises technology and Internet-based companies regarding compliance with privacy and copyright law when implementing new technologies and practices.
  • Represents software and technology companies in commercial litigation, business disputes, and privacy and intellectual property matters.
  • Obtained dismissal of copyright and trademark suits based on user-uploaded content on behalf of numerous e-commerce providers.
  • Prevailed at arbitration on behalf of video game development company against plaintiff alleging that the suspension of online gameplay violated California law.
  • Prevailed at arbitration on behalf of French sales agent in breach of contract dispute against purchaser of domestic distribution rights to motion picture.
  • Obtained dismissal with prejudice of defamation and copyright claims against musicians and motion picture studio brought by former manager of rap music group based on the depiction of the manager in a major motion picture.
  • Represents motion picture studios and independent motion picture companies in commercial litigation and copyright infringement matters.
  • Represents high-profile songwriters, performers, and motion picture producers and screenwriters in a variety of copyright, contract, and first amendment matters.
