Alana C. Srour represents clients in a variety of litigation matters, including entertainment, class action and unfair competition defense, intellectual property, mass torts, products liability, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and commercial and business disputes. She has diverse experience and handles virtually every phase of litigation from pre-litigation negotiations through final disposition or resolution, including bench and jury trials and final arbitration hearings. Alana routinely counsels clients on a variety of legal issues and her litigation experience extends to state and federal courts as well as administrative proceedings.

In addition to Alana’s wide-ranging litigation practice, she has significant experience defending and counseling public accommodations on ADA Title III and other disability law matters, including the accessibility of facilities, websites and mobile applications, the use of service animals and mobility devices, demands for accommodations and modifications, and the provision of auxiliary aids and services. Alana has handled a vast array of individual plaintiff and class action disability discrimination matters involving public accommodations throughout the United States. She represents clients from all industries, including hospitality, retail, banking and financial services, entertainment, e-commerce, real estate, media, health care, restaurants, and gaming. In addition to litigating and resolving lawsuits and pre-litigation demands, Alana provides advice and counsel on accessibility compliance, policy development and risk mitigation.

Experience

  • Defended and counseled public accommodations in Title III ADA, California’s Unruh Civil Rights Act, similar state and local laws, and other disability discrimination lawsuits, across a wide array of industries, in judicial and administrative forums.
  • Defended and counseled clients in ADA and other accessibility matters as they apply to the Internet and e-commerce.
  • Defended financial institutions, retailers, restaurants, health care providers, fashion designers, consumer product manufacturers, landlords and property owners, real estate developers, and other public accommodations against claims asserting violations of the ADA for the alleged inaccessibility of their websites and mobile apps.
  • Defended, litigated, or resolved hundreds of lawsuits as well as numerous pre-litigation disputes involving disability discrimination allegations.
  • Consulted on ADA and other accessibility code related matters in facilities and businesses.
  • Defended champion boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. and his company, Mayweather Promotions, in MDL proceeding and subsequent 9th Circuit appeal stemming from the Mayweather/Pacquiao boxing match – obtained District Court dismissal with prejudice of all class action suits, upheld on appeal.
  • Represented major motion picture studio in putative class action involving profit participation.
  • Defeated class certification in actions alleging violations of California consumer protection statutes and breach of contract against sound recording school.
  • Defended publicly traded corporations in defense of consumer class action and unfair competition litigations.
  • Defeated class certification in wage and hour putative class action against Fortune 50 company.
  • Obtained dismissal of putative class action against alcoholic beverage manufacturer alleging that product was not "all natural."
  • Obtained dismissal at the pleading stage of a putative class action against video game studio claiming that product suffered from various defects and missing functionality.
  • Represent leading micromobility company in consumer class action and mass tort cases.
  • Lead member of trial team representing consumer product company in personal injury and products liability action; obtained full defense verdict.
  • Represented medical device and consumer product manufacturers in product liability litigation.
  • Defended manufacturers of asbestos-containing products in several cases alleging claims of personal injury and product liability; member of trial teams.
  • Defended numerous medical device companies in personal injury litigation related to a variety of medical devices.
  • Served as national coordinating counsel in mass tort litigation.
  • Defended major automobile manufacturer in consumer fraud jury trials and other litigation.
  • Represent banks in contract and business tort disputes.
  • Second-chaired arbitration in real estate valuation dispute; examined multiple witnesses on direct and cross-examination.
  • Secured dismissal on behalf of A-list recording artist and his intellectual property entities in personal injury lawsuit occurring on a licensed property.
  • Represented A-list talent in various trademark and copyright disputes.
  • Represented a wide variety of brands in trademark litigation matters.
