Michael Boldt provides clients with incisive advocacy in the courtroom and at the negotiating table. He is a tactical counselor and litigator with wide-ranging experience working in energy markets and highly regulated industries. He advises investor-owned utilities, data centers, power generation businesses, tax equity investors, electric cooperatives, and large load customers in ERCOT, MISO, PJM, SPP, and before state regulatory commissions nationwide, including the Public Utility Commission of Texas. He also counsels clients on power supply agreements, electric interconnections, behind-the-meter arrangements, and regulatory compliance in complex commercial transactions and high-stakes litigation.

  • Obtained a $700 million reduction to ERCOT’s $2.1 billion claim as special counsel to the debtor in a bankruptcy adversary proceeding. At trial, Michael cross-examined ERCOT’s former CEO, its Head of Market Design, and was the principal architect of the client’s litigation strategy.°
  • Negotiated multibillion-dollar electric services agreement on behalf of hyperscaler in connection with the single largest private investment in Michigan’s history.°
  • Representation of AI data center developers, electric utilities, and electric cooperatives on large load interconnections and power supply agreements.°
  • Representation of hospitals in connection with behind-the-meter arrangements, private use networks, and retail electric supply.°
  • Representation of a large multinational tax equity investor with wind, solar, and battery storage transactions.°
