John Huber is a statured leader with over 26 years of litigation experience. Over the course of his career John has personally tried hundreds of civil and criminal cases to verdict, including personally trying 11 cases to jury verdict and supervising and directing 30+ others in Federal Court. Having served as the U.S. Attorney for the District of Utah from 2015-2021, John was the longest-tenured active U.S. Attorney in the United States for four years. First nominated by President Obama and later re-nominated by President Trump, he was unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate both times. During his tenure, John was entrusted with sensitive investigations that were the subject of intense scrutiny on the national stage. He is known for productivity and his ability to build teams and solutions to meet complex challenges.

John has handled matters of national security, terrorism, espionage, controlled substances diversion, trade secrets, and has prosecuted high-profile cases against individuals and organized crime groups. He was also appointed as a “leader amongst leaders” on the Attorney General’s Advisory Committee of U.S. Attorneys (AGAC), where he helped shape and oversee U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) practice and policy over two presidential administrations. John’s breadth of experience and focus includes complex investigations and litigation of fraud involving corporations, financial institutions, securities, health care, trade secrets, and false claims.

John also focuses his practice on helping businesses expand and operate internationally. As a board member of World Trade Center® Utah, John uses Greenberg Traurig LLP’s global platform to provide the insight that will help businesses pursue their goals.

  • Member of team who negotiated a deferred prosecution agreement (DPA) with DOJ on behalf of a non-U.S. corporate executive.
  • Oversaw the prosecution of two international terrorists in Utah, many domestic terrorism matters, and a former U.S. government employee acting as a spy for China.°
  • Supervised, directed, and led several high-profile organized crime cases, including the nationally known white supremacist gangs Soldiers of Aryan Culture and Silent Aryan Warriors, as well as the Norteno and Glen Mob Street Gangs and numerous other gangs in Utah with connections to Mexican drug cartels.°
  • Oversaw the prosecution of the then-largest illicit dark web trafficker of fentanyl-laced counterfeit oxycodone in the United States and obtained a lengthy prison sentence against a Utah doctor who illegally prescribed opioids to drug addicts.°
  • Prosecuted numerous cases involving the exploitation of minors, including the conviction of an ex-Ute Tribal leader who sexually abused a girl starting at the age of 10.°
  • Led a violent crime reduction partnership in Ogden, Utah, that contributed to the decrease in violent crime by as much as 30% and helped to create a similar partnership in Salt Lake City.°
  • Oversaw the prosecution of Utah’s Kingston Polygamist Clan, which defrauded the United States out of close to $500 million dollars.°
  • Oversaw the prosecution of Lyle Jeffs and members of the Fundamentalist LDS Church in Southern Utah who were found to have defrauded the U.S. Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program.°
  • Oversaw the prosecution of Rick Koerber for charges of orchestrating and running a $100 million Ponzi scheme, one of the largest in Utah’s history.°
  • Oversaw and initiated the prosecution of a Ponzi scheme related to Rust Rare Coins, the largest such scheme in Utah’s history with approximately $200 million in losses to victims.°
  • Prosecuted the illegal-alien murderer of Millard County Deputy Sheriff Josie Greathouse-Fox.°
  • Engaged in multiple cases related to the misuse of taxpayer funds amidst the global pandemic.°
