Maito Tozawa is a member of the International Trade Practice in Greenberg Traurig's Tokyo office. He focuses his practice on international trade, economic security, and supply chain regulatory matters. His experience covers a broad range of issues, including customs, export controls, economic sanctions, service trade, human rights due diligence, and other international trade and economic security regulations. He regularly advises Japanese and multinational companies on navigating complex cross-border regulatory requirements related to supply chain management and mitigating compliance risks. He also assists clients with the drafting and negotiation of commercial agreements and corporate policies, as well as the development of compliance frameworks and risk management strategies.
Maito also has significant experience in global mobility and international employment matters. He advises on immigration, social security and labor insurance, international employment disputes, taxation, and cross-border workforce transfers. He has extensive experience helping companies manage the legal and operational issues arising from the international movement of employees and executives.

- Reached out to the Japanese Government delegation in the course of representing a global semiconductor equipment manufacturer regarding discussions on customs classification of semiconductor manufacturing equipment in the WCO Harmonized System Committee.°
- Delivered a presentation to financial institutions regarding compliance with sanctions against Russia in accordance with the request from the U.S. government and its related organization.°
- Provided legal advice to a major global biotechnology company on the filing of amended Japanese customs and import consumption tax returns.°
- Representing Foreign Major Airlines, handle an ordinary lawsuit against former Japanese flight attendants, with the governing law of the employment contract being the main point of dispute.°
- Represented numerous global companies in their workforce reduction projects and negotiated settlements with employees or their attorneys.°

- bargaining with labor unions.°
- Provided legal advice to numerous global companies on matters related to the immigration procedures, social insurance, governing law of employment contracts, and taxation when they transfer employees across national borders.°
