American Cancer Society Crucial Catch: Youth Crucial Catch

Greenberg Traurig is sponsoring this event where Gaither High School and T. R. Robinson High School's Girls' Flag Football teams "intercept cancer," celebrate cancer survivors, and raise awareness about the importance of health screenings in support of the American Cancer Society's Crucial Catch initiative.

An estimated 87,050 adolescents and young adults (AYAs) between the ages of 15 to 39 will be diagnosed with cancer in the United States in 2022. This accounts for about 5% of all cancer diagnoses.  Alarmingly, colon cancer diagnoses are rising in younger people at nearly twice the rate as in 1995.   Colorectal cancer is the third leading cause of cancer death in men and women in the United States and one in five people who are diagnosed will be younger than 55 years of age. That last sobering statistic is one of the reasons the American Cancer Society recommend people get their first colonoscopy at 45.   Events like the American Cancer Society's Crucial Catch initiative are designed to provide outreach and education and increased access to cancer screenings.
