GTLA hosted ABA’s Litigation Section local presence program on Professionalism, Civility, and Implicit Bias. The program addressed how the bench and the bar can help each other foster professionalism and civility in the legal profession through heightened awareness of implicit biases, as well as effective ways of keeping them under control, drawing on insights from the initial report of the California Civility Task Force, entitled “Beyond the Oath: Recommendations for Improving Civility.” The program also highlighted some of the concrete, realistic, achievable, and powerful proposals in the report to improve civility in California’s legal profession.
