Michael J. Larson is a shareholder in Greenberg Traurig’s Miami office. He represents public and private real estate companies, institutional investors, and developers in a broad range of local and national commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions and dispositions of industrial, retail, senior housing, and office properties, as well as mortgage, securitized, and credit tenant loan financings, and large-scale mixed-used developments, including ground leased developments.

In addition, Michael has broad experience drafting and negotiating purchase and sale agreements, loan documents and security instruments, including those used in portfolio transactions with assets located throughout the United States.

Furthermore, he represents landlords and tenants in office, retail, restaurant and industrial leases, including ground leases in the public-private sector.

His practice also includes representing clients in connection with structuring real estate projects, restrictive covenants, property and asset management agreements, license agreements, and various service agreements.

Experience

  • Represent independent asset management firm in connection with all real estate aspects of its net leased real estate equity funds with assets valued in excess of $225 million, including acquisitions, financings, ground lease structures, and asset management.
  • Representation of non-traded REITs since 2012, in the acquisition of office buildings, shopping centers and industrial buildings throughout the United States valued in excess of $2 billion.
  • Representation of tenant/developer in connection with the negotiation of a long-term ground lease and development agreement with Miami-Dade County for a mixed-use transit-oriented development known as the Link at Douglas Station, which is anticipated to include: 970 residential units; 70,000 square feet of retail; a 150-key hotel; and a public plaza, in addition to physical improvements to the Metrorail Station.
  • Represented the U.S. real estate arm of a Hong-Kong multinational corporation in development of "Brickell City Centre," a large-scale mixed-use retail, hotel, office, and condominium project located in Downtown Miami.
  • Represented real estate private equity firm in connection with acquisitions, dispositions, financing of student housing, seniors housing, self-storage and medical office portfolios and individual assets throughout United States.
  • Represented trustees, bondholders and their real estate advisors in connection with wide-ranging matters, including acquisitions, sales and the restructuring of community development district bonds.
