Wietse de Jong focuses his practice on the structuring of financial products and capital market transactions, including setting up banks, investment funds, structured products, and the issue of listed and over-the-counter debt and equity securities. Wietse has worked on other financial industry transactions, including initial public offerings (IPO) and pre-offering equity financing, venture capital, joint ventures, and the sale and purchase of banks, asset managers and other regulated financial institutions such as pension funds and insurance companies.
Wietse has also defended many financial institutions in securities litigations, including class actions. He also held positions with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (Office of International Corporation Finance) and the Dutch Financial Markets Authority.

- Advised on numerous Eurobond and Commercial Paper issues for Dutch finance companies, including standalone issues and Euro Medium Term Note's (EMTNs) totaling more than $100 billion.
- Advised on acquisition of Dutch bank on behalf of Luxembourg bank and integration thereof, through merger.
- Advised a Dutch listed company in a takeover and financing through a convertible debt issue.
- Advised on purchase of 60 percent holding in Dutch car lease and car dealer finance group on behalf of a German bank.
- Advised on purchase of 60 percent holding in a Dutch consumer credit organization on behalf of a French financial institution.
- Advised on dissolution of €17 billion asset management contract for Dutch Institutional Investor.
- Advised on structuring of non-listed investment funds including hedge funds and Islamic finance (Shari'a).
