BOSTON – Jan. 29, 2021 – David J. Dykeman, co-managing shareholder of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP’s Boston office and co-chair of the firm's global Life Sciences & Medical Technology Group, will be speaking at the Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA) 48th Annual Northeast Regional Conference hosted by LMSA Northeast and The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS), taking place virtually Jan. 28-30, 2021.
On Friday, Jan. 29, Dykeman will moderate the keynote discussion “What Medical Students Should Know About Invention and IP: A Conversation with Dr. Gary K. Michelson.” Dr. Michelson, the sole-named inventor on more than 950 patents worldwide, is one of the most prolific inventors in the history of medicine and his innovations have revolutionized spinal surgery. Dr. Michelson will share his journey from a student who worked his way through medical school to a renowned medical innovator and will discuss the imperative of intellectual property literacy for today's students and the opportunity gaps in STEM and innovation.
Dykeman is a registered patent attorney with more than 23 years of experience in patent and intellectual property law. His practice focuses on securing worldwide intellectual property protection and related business strategies for high tech clients, with particular experience in life sciences, medical devices, robotics, materials, and information technology. An author of over 50 articles and a speaker at over 45 conferences on intellectual property law, he is the founding co-chair of the ABA’s Medical Devices Committee.
