Greenberg Traurig to Donate Up to $2 Million to Support Ukrainian Humanitarian Effort, Mobilize Pro Bono Team

NEW YORK – March 1, 2021 – Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP is donating up to $2 million to support humanitarian relief efforts for Ukraine and stands ready to provide pro bono legal services as needed for Ukrainian refugees.

Greenberg Traurig will contribute $1 million of aid and will also match donations from its attorneys and business staff up to another $1 million.

“Many of us feel powerless or much worse as we watch the daily horrors in Ukraine,” said Richard A. Rosenbaum, Executive Chairman of Greenberg Traurig. “The incredibly courageous fight being waged by Ukrainian people in the streets of their cities to protect their homes, their children, and their freedom is a defining moment for liberty, democracy, and justice around the world. As lawyers, it is not only our right, but also our duty to speak out and to do more.”

Given Greenberg Traurig’s long-standing tradition of assisting those in need, the firm is committed to providing legal services as well as financial support. The efforts will be coordinated by New York Shareholder Caroline J. Heller, chair of the firm’s global pro bono efforts, in conjunction with Lejb Fogelman and Robert Lis, based in Greenberg Traurig’s Warsaw, Poland office.

“We know this is a small gesture in light of the enormity of the needs,” Rosenbaum said. “We continue to pray for a prompt and peaceful conclusion to this crisis.”
