Greenberg Traurig Berlin Elevates 2 Lawyers

Carsten Kociok and Martin Dobiáš strengthen the firm’s global Fintech, Data Privacy & Cybersecurity, and Real Estate Practices

Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP elevated two lawyers from its own ranks in the Berlin office:

  • Carsten Kociok, Shareholder, FinTech and Data Privacy & Cybersecurity
  • Martin Dobiáš, Local Partner, Real Estate

With Kociok’s elevation to shareholder, Greenberg Traurig expands its Fintech and Data Privacy Practices. Kociok will strengthen and further develop the Intellectual Property & Technology Practice with his focus on payment and financial services, data protection, and e-commerce.

Dobiáš’ elevation to local partner further expands the firm’s broad, multidisciplinary offering for the real estate industry. Dobiáš advises investors and operators on national and cross-border projects, with a focus on operational real estate, including hotels, student housing, and entertainment properties such as cinemas.

“These partner elevations reflect our steady growth track and our ever-increasing market presence as one of the leading U.S. transactional law firms in Germany. We actively promote our young talent and are therefore once again able to elevate two of our gifted and successful talents to partners of the firm,” said Dr. Peter Schorling, managing partner of Greenberg Traurig Berlin.

The elevations are retroactive to Jan. 1, bringing the U.S. law firm’s partnership in Germany to 25 shareholders and seven local partners. Since opening its Germany office in fall 2015, the firm has appointed a total of 17 new shareholders in Berlin. At about 32%, Greenberg Traurig’s proportion of women partners in Germany remains consistently above market average.
