MIAMI – Oct. 22, 2025 – Two shareholders from the Miami office of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, P.A. will be honored with the “Circle of Excellence” award by the Miami Dade Bar. Kerri L. Barsh is recognized in the “Environmental and Land Use” category, and Elliot H. Scherker in the “Appellate” category.
The award recognizes attorneys and paralegals who exemplify the values and ethics of those in the legal profession in Florida, according to the organization. The award selection included independent research, peer evaluation of nominated attorneys, and a vote by members of the Miami Dade Bar. Award winners will be recognized Nov. 19 at the Miami-Dade Bar Awards Ceremony.
Barsh is co-chair of the firm’s Environmental Practice and a shareholder in the Land Use Practice Group. Her practice focuses on an array of environmental regulatory, permitting and litigation matters, including transactional support and due diligence, environmental assessment and liability matters, climate change, energy and infrastructure projects, wetlands and coastal permitting, air quality matters, hazardous materials contamination, and other compliance and enforcement cases. Barsh also has represented public and private clients on an array of complex developmental matters involving multiple jurisdictions, including providing counsel from initial entitlement strategy to permitting.
Scherker is co-chair of the firm’s National Appeals & Legal Issues Group. He has 50 years of experience as an appellate lawyer and has handled more than 3,000 appeals in state and federal courts for clients nationwide. Having begun his legal career as a public defender in Miami, a job he held for 17 years, Scherker’s commitment to access to justice for underrepresented communities continues as he often handles pro bono matters in a plethora of legal areas.
