Greenberg Traurig’s Laura Evangelista to Speak on the Insurance Regulatory Examiners Society (IRES) Foundation National School on Market Regulation Webinar

NEW YORK – March 23, 2021 – Laura Evangelista, an Insurance Regulatory & Transactions and Government Law & Policy shareholder in global law firm Greenberg Traurig LLP’s New York City and Albany offices, will serve as a presenter during the Insurance Regulatory Examiners Society (IRES) Foundation National School on Market Regulation Webinar on March 24. 

According to the IRES Foundation website, Evangelista’s panel topic “All Things New York,” will focus on “doing insurance business in New York and will cover important topics such as Circular Letter 1 and Reg 187.”

Evangelista focuses her practice on insurance regulatory matters. She has more than 25 years of diverse legal experience in the insurance industry. She joined the New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS) in 2016 and served as Executive Deputy Superintendent for Insurance until November 2019.  At DFS, Evangelista worked on policy initiatives, including formulation of regulations and industry guidance. She supervised all substantive insurance matters, including financial solvency examinations, market conduct examinations, and insurance company acquisitions. The insurance division regulates approximately 1,700 insurers with assets exceeding $4 trillion. Evangelista also served as a liaison to regulated entities, trade associations, and consumer groups on emerging issues and coordinated the department’s involvement with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.
