Michael’s practice covers a broad range of commercial real estate transactions with a focus on real estate finance. He regularly represents and advises investment banks, debt funds, REITs, financial institutions, and other lenders in originating commercial real estate loans secured by a variety of real estate asset classes, such as multifamily, retail, mixed-used, office, industrial, and hospitality properties. He has a wide range of experience with all aspects of commercial real estate financings, including mortgage and mezzanine financings, fee and leasehold financings, financings structured for securitization, and warehouse pledges. Michael’s background also includes representing real estate owners, developers, and investors in connection with the acquisition, disposition, and leasing of commercial real estate properties.

Experience

  • Represented a debt-fund as lender in originating numerous loans ranging in value from $30m - $190m, secured by various properties and asset-types located throughout the United States.
  • Represented a lender in connection with a $100m mezzanine loan secured by a pledge from over 80 entities of their equity interests in the underlying mortgage borrowers.
  • Represented a lender in connection with a $60m loan secured by a 10-property, multistate portfolio.
  • Represented a multinational investment bank and a prominent U.S.-based bank, as co-lenders, in connection with a $160m loan secured by a multitenant, retail property.
  • Represented an international investment bank in connection with several multimillion-dollar loan transactions secured by various properties and asset types, including hospitality and low-income housing properties.
  • Represented an investment firm as lender in connection with a $300m loan secured by a Manhattan office building.°
  • Represented an international investment bank as lender in connection with a $153m loan secured by a leasehold interest in a New Jersey office building.°
  • Represented an international investor in connection with its $113.5m acquisition and $50m financing of a Midtown Manhattan property.°
  • Represented a global investment bank across various transactions in connection with its acquisition and financing of multifamily properties throughout the United States ranging in value from $40m - $92m.°
  • Represented various entities, including a large, regional health care system, an academic medical center, real estate developers and non-profits with all leasing needs.°
