Profile
Michael focuses his practice on a broad range of complex commercial real estate transactions, with an emphasis on sophisticated real estate finance matters. He represents major investment banks, debt funds, REITs, and other institutional lenders in the origination of mortgage and mezzanine loans secured by office, multifamily, retail, mixed-use, industrial, and hospitality properties throughout the United States. His experience spans all aspects of real estate finance, including bridge and permanent financings, as well as routinely structuring loans for securitization and other capital markets executions.
Michael’s experience also includes representing real estate owners, developers, and investors in connection with the acquisition, disposition, and leasing of commercial real estate assets.

- Represented a leading debt fund as lender in originating numerous mortgage and mezzanine loans secured by various properties located throughout the United States and ranging in value from $40m to upwards of $200m.
- Represented a major debt fund in connection with a $215m loan secured by a mixed-use Manhattan tower.
- Represented a consortium of investment banks as co-lenders in connection with a $125m loan secured by a boutique hotel.
- Represented a major U.S.-based bank in connection with a $150m credit facility secured by a portfolio of properties across the United States.
- Represented a prominent debt fund as lender in originating a $160m mortgage and mezzanine loan secured by a Manhattan property.
- Represented a major debt fund in connection with an $83m loan made to finance the $200m+ acquisition of equity in a portfolio of entities owning several Florida properties.
- Represented a debt fund in connection with a $128m loan secured by a prominent Orlando, Florida tower made ahead of a $30m preferred equity investment from a major investment firm.
- Represented a lender in the origination and subsequent restructuring of a $100m mezzanine loan secured by equity interests in approximately 80 entities behind a $1bn mortgage loan secured by an approximately 80-property portfolio.
- Represented a multinational investment bank and a prominent U.S.-based bank, as co-lenders, in connection with a $160m loan secured by a multitenant retail property.
- Represented a debt fund and an international investment bank, as co-lenders, in connection with a $300m loan secured by a Manhattan office building.°
- Represented an international investor in connection with its $113m acquisition and $50m financing of a Midtown Manhattan property.°
- Represented a global investment bank as owner in numerous acquisitions and financings of properties throughout the United States ranging in value from $40m - $100m.°
- Represented a large national health care system, an academic medical center, and various other real estate developers and non-profits with all leasing needs.°
