BOSTON – Feb. 12, 2024 – Michael E. Jusczyk, of counsel in global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP’s Boston office, has been selected as a 2024 Excellence in the Law honoree for his pro bono work by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly. Jusczyk was honored for his work with unaccompanied minors, defending their interests in immigration court and related state proceedings in partnership with K.I.N.D. (Kids in Need of Defense). He has helped numerous children navigate the lengthy process for obtaining required state-court orders, enabling them to apply for Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, which provides permanent residency and a path to citizenship.
“We are proud to congratulate Mike on being recognized for his pro bono work,” said David J. Dykeman and Terence P. McCourt, co-managing shareholders of the firm’s Boston office, in a joint statement. “His dedication to helping unaccompanied minors is admirable and sets an inspiring standard for the legal community.”
Jusczyk is a member of the firm’s Litigation Practice. He represents national financial institutions in escalated defensive litigation, including foreclosure-related and bankruptcy matters, and defends complaints alleging violations of state and federal financial regulation and consumer protection statutes. He appears on clients’ behalf in state and federal trial and appellate courts for proceedings at all states of litigation and guides them through the mediation and arbitration processes when appropriate.
Every year, Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly hosts the Excellence in the Law Awards to honor excellence throughout the legal community in the commonwealth for pro bono, firm administration, alternative dispute resolution, marketing, and paralegal work, and to recognize “Up & Coming Lawyers.” Jusczyk will be honored at the annual Excellence in the Law event to be held at the Venezia Restaurant in Boston March 19.
