Jeff Biederman has practiced in most every aspect of the entertainment and media landscape including music, film, television, branding, fashion, advertising, video games and apps, as well as representing executives in these fields in their various employment agreements. Jeff’s clients include recording artists, producers, composers, managers, and executives in the music industry, as well as studios, publishing companies, production companies, actors, athletes, writers, models, designers, apparel and accessory companies, banks, venture capital companies, and advertising agencies, throughout the United States and internationally.

  • Representation of buyers, sellers, and investors in the purchase, sale, and securitization of music and video content catalogs totaling more than $3.5 Billion
  • Representation of recording artists, songwriters, producers, and authors in their various industry agreements including recording agreements, publishing agreements, and producer agreements
  • Counseling clients regarding copyrights, trademarks, and name/image/likeness rights monetization and protection
  • Representation of entertainment executives in their employment agreements with publishers, labels, studios, and PROs
  • Negotiation of sponsorship, endorsement and license agreements in the various entertainment sectors
  • Negotiation of license agreements with the performing rights organizations (“PROs” e.g., ASCAP, BMI, SESAC)

  • Represented Apollo Global Securities, LLC in its $1.8 Billion securitization of the Concord Music Group publishing and sound recording catalog of more than 1 million music assets including over 300 GrammyAward winners and more than 400 recordings with Gold, Platinum, Multi-Platinum and Diamond RIAA certifications.
  • Represented Vesper Co. in its strategic growth investment in Position Music, home of works by Ariana Grande, Blink-182, Avril Lavigne, and Machine Gun Kelly amongst others.
  • Represented James Newton Howard in the sale of his catalog to Multimedia Music.
  • Part of team representing Hitco Entertainment in its sale to Concord Music Group.
  • Part of team representing Litmus Music in its acquisition of Keith Urban and Benny Blanco catalogs.
  • Represented Round Hill Music Royalty Fund Ltd. in Round Hill Music Royalty Fund I’s acquisition of a pipeline publishing catalog that is valued at $363 million. This catalogue included songs from The Beatles, Marvin Gaye, Rod Stewart, James Brown, The Offspring, KISS, Phil Collins, Celine Dion, Lady A and the Backstreet Boys, among others. This acquisition also includes a minority slice in the Carlin America portfolio majority owned by Round Hill Music Royalty Fund II.°
  • Sale of THiS Music’s catalog to Sony Music, and the installation of THiS Music’s Rusty Gaston as Sony Music Nashville’s President.°
  • Represented Downtown Music Holdings, the global independent rights management and music services company, in its sale of 145,000 copyrights to Concord Music. The Downtown acquisition is Concord’s most significant purchase in years, capturing Downtown’s entire owned and/or co-published music catalog, including music from performers like Aretha Franklin, Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Stevie Wonder, David Bowie and Adele.°
  • Represented Miles Davis Properties, LLC in moving the administration of the Miles Davis song catalog to Downtown Music.°
  • Represented Kobalt Music Group in the company’s acquisition of Songs Music Publishing’s catalog. As part of this transaction, Kobalt obtained rights in major hits from artists including Lorde, The Weeknd, Diplo and Major Lazer.°
  • Represented Kobalt Music in its strategic alliance with Glassnote Music. Glassnote extensive catalog included Mumford & Sons, Phoenix, CHVRCHES, Childish Gambino and The Strumbellas among others.°
