Carlos J. Andréu-Collazo is an experienced associate in the Litigation practice at Greenberg Traurig’s Miami office. He represents and advises clients in a broad range of federal and state civil and criminal matters, including general commercial disputes, white-collar and corporate criminal defense, civil forfeiture, and other government-related matters. Carlos also counsels clients on administrative law, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and internal investigations. He is admitted to practice in Florida and Puerto Rico.

- Obtained two judgments for a total of $3.158 million on behalf of a Puerto Rico–based importer in two civil forfeiture actions against the U.S. Government before the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico.
- Obtained dismissal of an enforcement investigation brought by the Federal Election Commission relating to an investigation of alleged political donations made through conduit entities.
- Obtained dismissal of civil action on behalf of an international banking institution before the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico.
- Represented client in a False Claims Act qui tam action, successfully achieving dismissal of the claims.
- Represented client in a federal property-seizure proceeding under Federal Rule of Criminal Procedure 41(g) before the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico, arising from an MLAT-based search and seizure of more than 100 valuable works of art by renowned French Hungarian painter Victor Vasarely.
- Represented a client in connection with money laundering charges related to alleged narcotics trafficking before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
- Represented a Puerto Rico-based importer in relation to a False Claims Act investigation involving anti-dumping and countervailing duties applicable to solar products imported from China.
- Represented clients in a variety of complex commercial disputes in the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, and in Florida state courts.
- Represented clients in relation to numerous government criminal investigations and pre-indictment negotiations involving the FBI, DEA, HSI, OIG, and other federal and local government agencies.
- Represented clients in commercial arbitration involving enforcement of a promissory note executed in Puerto Rico before the American Arbitration Association.
- Represented clients in relation to 28 U.S.C. § 1782 applications for discovery for use in a foreign action before the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico and other U.S. district courts.
- Represented client in commercial dispute involving a Florida-based condominium association.
- Represented the Former Secretary of Education of Puerto Rico against two indictments involving public corruption charges before the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico.°
- Represented a former Senator of Puerto Rico and Mayor of the Municipality of Yauco, Puerto Rico, against two indictments charging making false statements to the federal government, wire fraud, and conspiracy to commit theft or bribery concerning programs receiving federal funds before the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico.°
- Represented the former Mayor of the Municipality of Guayama, Puerto Rico, against an indictment charging conspiracy to accept bribes in exchange for executing municipal contracts and facilitating unlawful invoice payments before the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico.°
- Represented a former contractor of the Municipality of Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, against an indictment charging conspiracy to commit wire fraud in relation to a scheme to defraud the Municipality before the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico.°
- Represented a former Mayor of San Juan, Puerto Rico, in relation to a government ethics complaint filed before the Puerto Rico Office of Government Ethics.°
- Represented a Puerto Rico-based and licensed international bank before the Office of the Commissioner of Financial Institutions of Puerto Rico, the bank’s regulator, in relation to a cease-and-desist order and allegations of inadequate capital levels and compliance controls.°
- Represented an executive and managing member of a Colombian mining-company before the Securities Exchange Commission in relation to allegations of fraud and unregistered offerings.°
