Lisa Schaures is a shareholder in the firm’s Corporate Practice. Lisa guides privately held companies, private equity firms, and social ventures through high-stakes mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, capital markets transactions, corporate governance matters, restructuring, and commercial contracts. A trusted advisor, she leverages deep industry insights across key sectors—ranging from technology and government contracting to health care, housing, and business services—to help clients pursue their strategic goals.

Lisa regularly acts as outside general counsel for her clients, negotiating and executing deals while keeping their broader objectives in focus. Her ability to assemble and coordinate cross-functional teams means clients receive efficient guidance without losing sight of the business outcome driving each matter. Lisa’s advanced tax training, including an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Washington, combined with her broad transactional practice, helps her to identify and address issues that often span multiple disciplines in a single engagement.

Lisa also focuses her practice on family offices and tax-exempt organizations, counseling families and nonprofits on formation, governance, tax-exempt compliance, lobbying restrictions, fundraising law, and collaboration with both nonprofit and for-profit entities. She has authored multiple chapters of the Washington Nonprofit Handbook and speaks frequently on family office and nonprofit legal issues, planned giving, and board governance.

Lisa is recognized by Best Lawyers in America for Tax Law, Nonprofit/Charities Law, and Corporate Law. She previously taught transactional law as an adjunct professor at Seattle University School of Law and serves on the boards of the King County Sexual Assault Resource Center and YWCA of Seattle-King-Snohomish, reflecting her deep ties to the Pacific Northwest community.
