Greenberg Traurig’s Ian C. Ballon to Speak at U.S. Patent & Trademark Office Judicial Colloquium on Intellectual Property, Innovation and Technology

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – July 25, 2023 - Ian C. Ballon, co-chair of the Global Intellectual Property (IP) & Technology Practice of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, will speak at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) Indo-Pacific Colloquium on Intellectual Property, Innovation and Technology July 25 in Alexandria, Virginia.

Supported by the U.S. Federal judiciary, the colloquium will feature discussions on topics such as the challenges for rightsholders and consumers in the global and online environment, the rule of law and transparency in proceeding and decision-making, and criminal prosecution in IP cases, among others. This is an invite-only event that will be attended by more than 50 judges from the United States and around the world.

Ballon will speak during Session 5 of the colloquium on a panel titled “Law and Technology: What Lies Ahead for the Courts” alongside other intellectual property professionals.

Ballon is an IP and internet litigator who represents clients in copyright, Digital Millennium Copyright Act, trademark, trade secret, right of publicity, privacy, security, software, database, and Internet- and mobile-related disputes, and in the defense of data privacy, cybersecurity breach, adtech and behavioral advertising, TCPA, and other Internet-related class action suits. In addition to his practice, Ballon authors the five-volume legal treatise, E-Commerce and Internet Law: Treatise With Forms 2d Edition (West 2008 & 2022 Cum. Supp., www.ianballon.net) and the earlier first edition, which has been cited in state and federal court opinions.
