26th Annual U.S. and Europe Tax Practice Trends Conference

GT Miami Tax Shareholder Seth J. Entin participated as a panelist at the 26th Annual U.S. and Europe Tax Practice Trends Conference, hosted jointly by the American Bar Association (ABA), International Bar Association (IBA), and International Fiscal Association (IFA), on April 15 in Rome, Italy.

Seth took part in the Wealth Management Workshop, titled “From Term Sheets to Trusts: Wealth Strategies and Cross Border Planning for New Tech Founders and Investors.” The program examined the critical first 18 months following a tech company’s launch or liquidity event – a period that can shape long term wealth outcomes for founders and investors alike.

The panel brought together experienced advisors and lawyers from the United States and several European jurisdictions to provide practical guidance on tax efficient equity planning, cross border structuring, and risk management in fast moving markets. Discussion topics included founder equity, SAFEs and tokens, carried interest and other equity compensation arrangements, secondary sales, and early liquidity strategies.

Panelists also addressed pre and post liquidity planning (including QSBS and participation exemption considerations), U.S.–EU mobility and treaty issues, trust and entity structures for scaling wealth, portfolio diversification after a concentrated tech win, estate planning for significant early stage wealth, cybersecurity and privacy concerns, and governance frameworks designed to endure market cycles.

Attendees left with a practical checklist highlighting key milestones, jurisdiction specific watchouts, and strategies for aligning legal, tax, and investment advisors across borders.
