AMSTERDAM – May 1, 2023 –Thomas Timmermans, shareholder in global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP’s Labor & Employment Practice, will speak at the American Bar Association (ABA)’s 2023 International Labor & Employment Law Committee Midyear Meeting May 4 in Amsterdam.
Thomas’ panel, “How NOT to Do Reductions in Force (RIF),” will discuss strategies for implementing layoffs, including legal considerations, the importance of developing a clear plan, effective communications, and alternative cost-cutting measures. The panel will also discuss minimizing the negative impact of RIFs and how to be respectful and fair in the process.
Thomas advises and represents national and international clients across a broad range of employment and employee benefits issues. His experience includes corporate governance, dismissals, large restructurings, employee representation, employee benefits, strategic employment issues, and cross-border corporate law-related employment matters. Within these areas of law, Thomas has particular knowledge and experience in the field of board member terminations, outsourcing/transfer of undertakings, works council consultation procedures, and incentives.
