DALLAS – July 8, 2021 – Attorneys from global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP secured a victory for Dallas-based Monadnock Resources, LLC and its subsidiary in a multimillion-dollar oil and gas development dispute.
“Over the course of the development, Monadnock Resources upheld its part of the agreement, and we are pleased that the court’s ruling reflects that,” said Matt Gentry, Monadnock Resources chief executive officer. “Thank you to Karl Dial and the GT team for their excellent legal representation.”
The firm successfully represented Monadnock Resources before the 7th Court of Appeals in Amarillo. The dispute, brought by Big Hatchet, LLC in 2019, regarded a joint development agreement and whether Monadnock was legally obligated to sell the opposing party an interest in a 20-mile long saltwater transportation pipeline system. Prior to litigation, Monadnock offered Big Hatchet an opportunity to participate in the entire 20-mile pipeline, but Big Hatchet sued to be allowed to buy only the most profitable segments of the pipeline.
The matter was led by Greenberg Traurig Litigation Shareholder Karl G. Dial, who is based in the firm’s Dallas office. Additional team members included Shareholder Elizabeth “Heidi” G. Bloch and Associate Allison M. Stewart.
“We are elated with the outcome and would like to thank the Monadnock Resources team for their continued trust,” Dial said. “The court’s ruling reinforced the importance of legal contracts and that working-interest owners cannot pick and choose to participate in only part of a pipeline.”
