Rene A. Treviño focuses his practice on commercial and patent litigation involving a wide-range of technologies, including computer hardware and application software, medical devices, and pharmaceutical products. He represents clients before the Supreme Court of the United States, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and Fifth Circuit, and many district courts across the country, including the Eastern District of Texas, where he served as a law clerk for the (Ret.) Hon. Chief Judge Leonard E. Davis (Eastern District of Texas).
Rene is experienced in managing all aspects of a complex litigation through trial and appeal. For example, he has handled all of the following: day-to-day case management, fact and expert depositions, developing expert reports, arguing in hearings involving discovery matters, summary judgment motions, claim construction, trial motions, and examining (direct/cross) witnesses at trial. Rene has participated in both jury and bench trials. Additionally, Rene served as a volunteer prosecutor for the city of Houston, where he obtained first-chair trial experience in more than 20 jury trials.
Prior to joining Greenberg Traurig, Rene worked for several years with an international law firm in Houston, Texas. Prior to his career in law, Rene spent four years as a software engineer at IBM Corp. in Austin, Texas.
