Some Factors to Consider Under Florida’s Repeal of State Business Rent Tax

On Oct. 1, 2025, the state sales tax on commercial property leases will be repealed with the implementation of Florida HB 7031, potentially prompting some businesses to restructure their Florida real property holdings in a way that separates them from their operating assets. While this might have benefits in terms of reducing liability risks, there are other potential tax consequences that Florida businesses may want to consider before taking the plunge to convey real property out of an operating company.
