Jerry Fellows consults with clients on their objectives and provides strategic legal guidance on their most important issues, enhances their intellectual property protection and enforcement strategies, and helps prepare them for issues that may impact their business opportunities. His practice includes clearing, acquiring and enforcing United States and foreign patent rights, particularly for enterprise and process software, artificial intelligence, blockchain, cryptocurrency, and metaverse-related innovations, Internet and business methods, biomedical technologies including medical, dental, and cardiac laser systems and their graphical user interfaces, alternative energy innovations, sustainable technologies, and electrical, mechanical, and electromechanical technologies. Jerry also has experience patenting material science innovations, including superconducting materials and systems, electromagnetic containment systems, complex electronic and mechanical systems and processes, and energy storage systems.

Additionally, Jerry helps clients acquire and enforce United States and foreign trademark rights, copyrights and trade secrets, negotiates intellectual property licenses and technology transfers, prepares invalidity and non-infringement opinions, and performs due diligence for mergers and acquisitions. Prior to joining the firm, Jerry was Managing Partner of his prior firm's largest office.

  • Represent a large industrial software company in various IP matters including artificial intelligence-focused patent prosecution.
  • Represent one of the largest utilities in the world in obtaining patents and licensing technologies into and out of the company.
  • Broad experience representing clients regarding the Ronald A. Katz Technology Licensing, L.P. ("RAKTL") patent portfolio and licensing program.
  • Wide-ranging lead patent counsel experience for clients ranging in size from start-up to Fortune 100 companies.
  • Obtained patent coverage that a client's competitor asserted in court "destroyed" its business.°
  • Provide proactive and strategic guidance to several large utilities to help them avoid patent litigation related to smart grid infrastructures, online billing and other electronic systems.
  • Led hundreds of intellectual property related merger and acquisitions due diligence and negotiations for transactions valued at up to $5 billion.
  • Led the formation of the first consortium worldwide to negotiate with RAKTL, a patent owner reportedly approaching $1 billion in royalty revenue. Subsequently, he formed and led negotiations for financial services consortia and a utility consortium.°
  • On an ongoing basis, form consortia and lead license and settlement negotiations to achieve large discounts from patent owners.
