Scott J. Goncher, Ph.D. is a registered patent agent focusing on the prosecution and litigation of patents with a scientific background that connects to a wide range of technologies.

Scott received a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of California at Berkeley working on gas phase chemical physics phenomena as related to soot formation from hydrocarbon radicals as well as finding possible precursors to clean burning fuels. Following his dissertation, Scott began post-doctoral research at the Energy Frontiers Research Center at Columbia University, investigating electron mobility, surface properties and synthesis of a potential organic material to be used in next generation solar cells and electronics: graphene.

Scott has also worked as a research analyst and consultant in both the green technology and healthcare industries. His work allowed him to investigate emerging macroscopic trends in those industries. He has consulted on invasive adherence technologies to increase patient compliance with prescriptions. He has prepared industry reports on topics as wide ranging as the rise of Integrated Delivery Networks and the analytical capabilities big data brings to them to technological innovations for the smart grid. In addition, he has coauthored nine publications which have appeared in top tier scientific journals.
