Profile
Christina Suarez advises clients on land use, natural resources, and real estate matters, drawing on a technical background that sets her apart in these fields. Before entering the practice of law, she earned advanced degrees in petroleum engineering and engineering and technology management from the Colorado School of Mines, where her academic and research experience included issues involving the oil and gas and mining industries. That combination of legal training and scientific fluency allows Christina to understand the underlying facts of complex environmental and resource issues and to communicate them clearly to clients.
Christina’s engineering foundation informs how she approaches land use, permitting, and regulatory matters involving complex development and infrastructure projects. She assists clients in navigating zoning, entitlement, and other state and local regulatory requirements, bringing a technical perspective to projects involving energy, natural resources, and other complex land uses.
A prolific writer, Christina has authored and co-authored articles addressing developments in land use, water, and environmental law, with work published in the Denver Business Journal, California Land Use Law & Policy Reporter, California Water Law & Policy Reporter, and Western Water Law & Policy Reporter. Her published work has addressed topics including agency deference, water allocation and drought planning, groundwater sustainability, affordable housing enforcement, and PFAS regulation. Through this writing, she keeps clients informed on the legal shifts that shape their industries.
